Dear Hopewell Elementary School Parents/ Guardians and Students:
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! This is going to be a great year at Hopewell Elementary School! I hope you had an exciting summer and are ready for an excited school year. I want to welcome our new students, our returning students, and any students who are new to the District. The elementary school experience is very important as it meets the essential educational, emotional and social needs of all students. I am confident that all of our students will find much success during their years at Hopewell Elementary School.
School hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. In the event that your child will be absent from school, please send the excuse upon return to school. Please read your handbook so that you can be more informed and understand the district processes.
The Hopewell staff and I are eager to begin the new school year. We look forward to working with your family as we embark on an educational journey that will be both challenging and rewarding. The Elementary school years serve as a bridge to young adulthood. The staff is committed to providing our students with an excellent education, along with many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. To make sure we are meeting the needs of all of our students at Hopewell Elementary School, we have created schedule that will allow extended class time to teach all four core subjects: language arts, math, social studies, and science. The new Common Core Standards for Math and Language Arts along with Buckle down Language and Crosswalk Math series will allow us to grow and achieve at a high level. Students will be expected to read and learn more information using a much more rigorous and comprehensive curriculum. The state of Mississippi is raising the standard for all of our students. At Hopewell our teachers have attended several summer studies to prepare for all the academic changes that will take place and we are ready for the challenge. Please allow us to work with you, your sons and daughters so that together we can reach our goals this year.
Thanks,
Dexter Jordan
